Charcoal is an interesting medium. I have always loved black and white art, photos, pencil, etc. so stepping into charcoal has been fun. I use charcoal in various forms- sticks, pencils, powdered (sometimes mixed with thinner). Most of my charcoals are created on some kind of gessoed surface, which seems to work very well.
